Mums & Toddlers Tennis Sessions

🎾 NEW PROGRAM — Starting Wednesday 22nd April 2026 at 9AM · CITC

Finding time to look after yourself as a mum of a toddler can feel almost impossible. Between caring, feeding, teaching and juggling daily life, exercise often becomes the last priority — even though it’s one of the things we need most.

Our Mums & Toddlers Tennis sessions are designed to change that. This unique program creates a space where mums can move, sweat and reconnect with themselves, while their toddlers learn, explore and develop essential skills — side by side, in a supportive and welcoming environment.

A Program Built by a Mum, for Mums

The sessions are run by Coach Misty, a highly experienced tennis coach — and mum to 2‑year‑old twins. These classes are truly tried and tested, developed and refined through real‑life experience.

Coach Misty runs the sessions with her own toddlers participating, so every activity has been thoughtfully designed to work for busy mums, active toddlers and real‑world parenting challenges.

“This isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress, connection and making movement part of everyday life.”

What Toddlers Are Learning

For toddlers, these sessions focus on Key Primary Motor Skills (also known as Fundamental Movement Skills), which are essential building blocks for lifelong physical activity.

Through playful, tennis‑based activities, toddlers are developing skills such as:

  • ⚖️ Balance and coordination — walking on lines, stepping over equipment, balancing with a racquet
  • 🏃 Running, stopping and changing direction — through chase games and obstacle courses
  • 🎯 Throwing, rolling and catching — balls and beanbags
  • 🎾 Striking skills — using modified racquets and balloons
  • 🧠 Spatial awareness and body control — through movement games and exploration

All activities are delivered in a play-based, child-led way, allowing toddlers to explore at their own pace while building confidence and independence.

EYLF Connections for Toddlers

The program aligns strongly with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), particularly:

Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
Toddlers engage in active play that supports their physical wellbeing, strength and coordination. Movement experiences help children develop confidence in their bodies while supporting emotional regulation and resilience.

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
Through play-based exploration, toddlers develop curiosity, persistence and problem-solving skills, learning through trial, error and repetition. Activities encourage them to try new challenges, build confidence and experience success.

What Mums Are Doing at the Same Time

While toddlers are engaged in guided play and skill development, mums are moving too. Mums participate in low-impact, functional workouts designed to work seamlessly alongside their child’s activities:

  • Squats and lunges while toddlers practise rolling or throwing balls
  • Core and balance exercises while children explore balance games
  • Walking, jogging or agility movements alongside toddler obstacle courses
  • Stretching and mobility while children work on fine motor or striking skills

The sessions are adaptable — mums can increase or decrease intensity as needed, and there is no pressure to “keep up”. The focus is on feeling good, moving safely and enjoying the moment.

More Than Exercise — A Community

One of the most powerful parts of the Mums & Toddlers Tennis program is the connection. These sessions create a safe, welcoming space for mums to:

  • Connect with other local mums
  • Share experiences and support
  • Build friendships
  • Feel seen, understood and encouraged

It’s a chance to step out of isolation, laugh together and be reminded that you’re not alone.

Why It Works

  • ✅ Designed by an experienced coach and mum
  • ✅ Supports both mum and child simultaneously
  • ✅ Play-based, flexible and realistic
  • ✅ Builds confidence, fitness and connection
  • ✅ Encourages healthy habits for the whole family

This program recognises that mums deserve to look after themselves, and that children learn best when movement, play and connection happen together.
